The original plan for the kitchen was to install hardwood floors, but Fixer Upper host Joanna Gaines opted instead for black and white tile, originally planned for use only in a butler's pantry, to give the entire kitchen added personality and a more dynamic look. Stained antique doors, a wooden island and copper elements help provide a warm counterbalance to the striking black and white.
Fixer Upper hosts Chip and Joanna Gaines opened the porch back up, bringing back a more classic and elegant look to the exterior. Though they opted to keep the original brick and not paint the exterior, new stucco and contrasting gray trim highlight the home's traditional Tudor style.
The original built-in bookcases flanking the fireplace were retained, echoing the arched detail found in the doors and entryways. The bookcases and trim are painted in ash gray, providing soft contrast with the newly painted white walls.
