Open to the great room, the HGTV Smart Home 2014 kitchen is designed with bold cabinetry, clever storage and a wooden island. A brilliant blue and white color scheme keeps the eye entertained. A unique industrial lighting feature adds visual interest to the space while state-of-the-art stainless steel appliances lend style and function to this hard-working room.
To make this charming kitchen as functional as possible, interior designer Linda Woodrum opted for a triangle-style workspace. “When I think of smart design, I think of wisely designing a home that functions well on a high level, so that’s what Kelly Mockingbird, the design coordinator, and I tried to do through this whole process,” explains Linda. “It works well. Everything is in that small triangle, and it’s just very usable and functional.”
Beautiful tropical landscaping frames the front of the HGTV Smart Home 2013. The Florida home features a covered porch, beautiful tropical landscaping, and a paver driveway to a matching detached garage.
Furnished with a flat-screen television, the HGTV Smart Home 2014 kids' den offers a spot to watch movies and play video games. A soft, houndstooth rug anchors the space, which is defined by blue paneled walls and a collection of furnishings, both modern and traditional in design.
This contemporary kitchen was featured in the HGTV Smart Home 2013 and is located in Jacksonville, FL. The kitchen has white cabinets and a mostly neutral color scheme adorned with blue kitchen furnishings. Pendant lights hang from the ceiling and highlight the small island in the center of the kitchen.
The dining room of HGTV Smart Home 2013 has a coastal yet contemporary feel thanks to the balance of different elements like a bold-patterned rug, an ornate wrought iron chandelier, trestle-style dining table, and celadon-hued fabric upholstered chairs. Doors that lead to the back deck and pool make the room feel more open.
This large covered porch and deck make for easy access to the HGTV Smart Home 2014's back yard from either story. A beautiful white railing surrounds the porch and staircase, creating a more modern looking deck.
Inspired by the vernacular Florida vacation home, a porch wraps the length of the backyard, providing shade from the intense midday sun. A flat porch roof, clad in 24-gauge metal, replaces the classic sloped roof clad in cedar or cypress shingles. A pine trestle style teal table with vintage steel chairs complete the beach house look.
