Free-Standing Planters With Orange Draperies on Deck

In the absence of pergola or an arbor to anchor outdoor drapes, free-standing planters add privacy, color and texture to this uncovered deck. Weighted down by cement-filled buckets inset with two-foot-by-four-foot wooden planks, the planters were also affixed with galvanized metal pipes to create curtain rods. To help camouflage the lumber, the planks were painted the same color as the deck and topped with low-maintenance plants.
