On this wall, designers used some of the homeowner's keepsakes (including vintage candleholders) as the starting point for a pretty display. The salvaged shelf on the radiator was sanded, clear coated, then embellished with gold foil. The little glass bottles on top were dipped in white paint, the embellished with gold foil as well.
Cut sheets of foil leaf into small circles using craft scissors. Next, randomly place them on the white plate until the desired look is achieved. For a layered effect, use a gold metallic paint pen along the edges for a gilded touch that will coordinate with the foil leaf dots.
A living space by B.A. Torrey for the Kips Bay Decorator Show House 2018 is sultry yet sophisticated with rich charcoal walls, a chunky stone fireplace and metallic detailing. The room is full of contrasting texture, from plush velvet upholstery to brass furniture to a gold-foiled ceiling and gold light fixtures, keeping it playful and exciting.
The back of this built-in bookcase is lined with Novogratz Constellation removable wallpaper. The off-white peel-and-stick paper with gold foil design creates striking contrast against the deep green walls and dark wood shelves and can easily be removed or replaced. Accessories like a "hello" sign made from wire, astronaut artwork, a moon LED night light and a brontosaurus tillandsia planter add to the whimsy of the display.
Just looking around the room, it's clear that designer Caitlin Murray put a lot of thought into even the smallest details. This golden ant sculpture is no exception, as Murray used it to bring out the foil in her clients' book collection.
This inviting foyer welcomes guests into a bright open living room that is dripping in character. White wainscoting lines the walls, while metallic foil gray silver cork wallpaper add a touch of color to the niches and the ceiling. A subtle custom bench hugs the walls with a dark blue and gold fabric adding seating to the space. Finally, a custom marble medallion sets the tone for the rest of the home.
