This lively, eclectic kitchen is brought to life through bright stripes of color, a red glass backsplash, stainless steel appliances and funky floral window treatments. The kitchen island serves as a breakfast bar with lucite barstools.
Designed by Meg Caswell, this colorful, eclectic kitchen features a red glass backsplash, matte gray cabinets and gleaming metal appliances. The floral window treatment, funky chandelier, and striped kitchen island add to the playful vibe.
"If you look closely in the background, you can see one of my favorite design elements for this project. I had turquoise bird silhouettes applied to the window treatments and also painted one on the ceiling to give the illusion they were flying through the room," says Clements.
An open, stainless steel frame supports the glass top of this sleek desk. A red chair provides a bright and bold pop of color complemented by the red shade on the table lamp. A black and white painting adds texture and decorates the solid wall space.
A soft, upholstered bourne holds court beneath a spectacular red glass chandelier in this dressing room fit for a queen. The circular space features a dramatic and custom black shag rug, as well as a row of mirrors that follows the room's curved lines. Recessed lights line the perimeter, providing ample task lighting for dressing.
Located in the heart of the Chelsea district in New York City, this 5,000-square-foot duplex loft houses an amazing collection of art, like the framed black and white photograph and sheep sculpture in this informal dining room. White brick walls and a simple black dining table let the red glass and metal chandelier shine.
This dining room features neutral wood wall paneling paired with a red ceiling and matching French door. A round glass table with modern white chairs sits at the center with a metal chandelier overhead. Multicolored artwork, an antique record player and hardwood floors add finishing touches.
A walk-in closet next to the photographer’s studio space in a New York City loft features two frosted glass panels. The design of the industrial loft uses wall planes to sculpt the light and make window-less areas feel airy. The red chairs were designed by Donald Judd and the floors are American white oak planks. The project by Desai Chia Architecture won a 2018 AIA Institute Honor Award for interior architecture.
A bright red accent wall strip pops against the calm, neutral tones of this bathroom design. A small floating vanity features woodgrain cabinetry and white vessel sink. The large walk in shower has a glass door and neutral tile interior. Vertical black and white tile behind the rain shower head adds depth to the design.
Colletti designed this open glass container for use on a coffee table. The moss on the left is Irish moss (Sagina subulata), a lush-looking groundcover with a fuzzy texture. The red center plant, Hypoestes, works as a focal point. Colletti loves baby tears (Helxine soleirolii, in the lower right corner of the container). It's growing next to a creeping fig (Ficus pumila) in the lower right corner. Sheet moss was used in the upper right corner. “The plants are the stars,” Colletti says, “so the top dressing is minimal; clean lines accent a home décor display.”
