The owners of this home have transformed what could have been a drab basement into a wonderful family room. A sitting area takes up half the space and is separated by narrow columns from the the back part of the room dedicated to music and games.
Joanna and Chip Gaines have transformed the living room by painting the walls neutral gray with white trim and white ceilings. They kept the original Dutch door but painted it with a faux finish to look like a dark stained wood grain. The fireplace brick was painted white and shiplap paneling with a natural wood mantle was installed.
A custom library ladder is a fun accessory for the large shelving unit in this living room. The lime green pops nicely against the surrounding orange walls, and the room is unified with thick white trim. A tufted white sofa matches the trim, while wood tables blend with the hardwood floor. Midcentury-modern chairs with matching ottomans complete the space.
A teen girl's room is filled with style and personality when mementoes and favorite sayings are turned into decor. Here, snapshots create a graphic heart on one wall and are clipped on a line with clothespins on another. The beds add to the merry mayhem with their bold prints and colors.
Transitional Brown and White Living Room With Turquoise Walls
"For Stacey, the carnation is a hard-working flower that has the possibility of being more than it appears on the surface. Her desk and chair seem both modern and traditional at once, showcasing the complexity of the flower she has chosen," said judge Vern Yip of HGTV's Design Star. This transitional room features traditional decor with a modern twist. The two-tone walls add color to the white furniture, wood flooring and dark wooden desk.

Girls' Bedroom With Gold Sunglasses Throw Pillow and Framed Kids' Artwork
This fun girls' bedroom features a two twin beds, each dressed in gold polka dot bed linens and decorate with several throw pillows, including one with a pink sneaker print and another in the shape of gold sunglasses. Framed kids' artwork hangs above the beds.
Here's a fresh twist on the stodgy library: The bookcase was customized to fit around the pale gray settee, then filled with colorful books and accessories. The room is a perfect example of the rule the designers used throughout the home: Neutral building materials only, then color layered in for a firework finish.
The living, dining and family rooms open into each other and are trimmed in bright white for a fresh and dramatic appearance. A lime-green accent wall pops in the living room, and the color is repeated in the family room. A large built-in bookshelf surrounding the mounted TV provides ample storage and display space.
A coral-colored rug pulls together the design in this living room, uniting the pops of color found in the curtains, artwork and pillows. The neutral chairs and sofa blend into the background and let the coral and turquoise elements shine.
Fixer Upper hosts Chip and Joanna Gaines completely transformed the bathroom by removing all of the old and tile and wall panels. The walls were painted light yellow with white beaded board wainscoting. Two ornate wooden mirrors hang above his and her's vessel sinks installed on top of an old painted dresser. New tile floors in a traditional pattern adds to the character of the room and a subway tile bathtub and shower were installed.
