French Provence Home With Private Fireplace and Patio
Another wonderful feature of this French-themed home is a private patio area and fireplace that appears separate from its main gathering space. One can relax, take a breather or even meditate in this small, out-of-the-way area that is as beautifully apportioned as the rest of the home. Mark Scott and Associates designed the landscaping with a more secluded space in mind.
Designed as a modern relaxing Mediterranean oasis, the hot tub is surrounded by travertine stone and accented with brilliant blue tiles. A cedar pergola provides shade, while the homeowner's collection of eclectic pottery and statues add a personal touch.
This patio feels more like a courtyard, surrounded as it is on two sides by the house. Checkerboard grass-and-paver "flooring" gives the sense an outdoor room, while the fire pit provides warmth and a gathering spot on cool evenings.
The design provides a seamless transition from the indoors to the outdoors. A retractable door helps merge the two spaces together so that a gorgeous view of the Arizona landscape is put on full display.
Teak rocking chairs are a perfect spot to relax in this welcoming backyard oasis. Trellises full of climbing plants add color and texture to stucco exterior walls of the Mediterranean home, and rustic wood windows create a striking contrast.
Designed for entertaining, the outdoor kitchen's counters double as a prep area and serving space. Old World-inspired furniture is a comfortable spot to relax, while beautiful flowers bring color to the space.
