Colorful Eclectic Courtyard With Copper Water Feature
A water feature is the focal point at the center of this fun and eclectic backyard hangout. A wood structure lined with metal screening encloses spaces to dine, relax and otherwise entertain. Vessels scattered throughout the courtyard hold plantings of various sizes and shapes, bringing life to the space.
Don't be afraid to paint exterior walls in bright colors. The painted stripes along this pink stucco wall create a striking visual contrast with silver metal planters and a variety of green succulents.
Dramatic Front Doorway with Stained Glass and Pendant Lighting
A dramatic archway composed of wood slats and iron frame blend beautifully with a vibrant stained glass door in this front entry. Painted concrete containers sunken into the ground create a pretty space for planting while leveling out a sloped walkway.
Fun, brightly colored fabrics liven up the neutral outdoor living space. An outdoor kitchen is fully stocked with a refrigerator, sink and grill, as well a bar area for eating. The stacked stone fireplace with herringbone firebox is the real focal point of the space.
Small Outdoor Space with Red Adirondack Chairs, Fire Pit and Built-in Bar
Take a corner of your patio and put it to use as an entertaining space. A bar is built in under the kitchen window in this outdoor space with a fire pit by DesignFix, a California interior design company. The bar, which has a red acrylic top, is supported by decorative wood roofing brackets. Rope lighting underneath makes the bar look cool at night, says designer Amanda Giles.
Glass panels on the deck railing allow for crystal-clear views of the backyard. A rattan, egg-shaped swing provides cozy, eclectic outdoor seating. Navy outdoor throw pillows serve as extra seating or a foot rest for the swing.
The raised beds were used to solve drainage problems the lot had. Stone walls allowed for screen plantings along the fence and have room to plant seasonal color in front of them to add some appeal to them. A dry creek bed with oversized gravel meanders throughout the backyard to catch all water runoff from the patio and surrounding beds.
