Joanna’s design incorporates a stylized take on an old-fashioned Murphy bed, allowing the space to be used as sleeping quarters when guests are visiting. The bed folds up and out-of-sight when the room is being used as a kids’ space.
Bold Color Palette in Nursery/Playroom Combination Space
In this space, designers have created a nursery/playroom combination for the homeowners. Beautiful wood doors that are original to the home open to reveal an elegant nursery on the other side of the play space. The walls in the two spaces have been clothed in a unique, teal color, creating a bold space for the kids to enjoy. On floating shelves, an extensive collection of children's books awaits reading hour, while woven baskets provide a stylish place for toy storage.
Stored Toys Double as Fun Decor in Casual Kids Room
Toy storage is kept easy and casual in this kids' room. Cubbies located at floor level make it easy for kids to put away their own toys when through with them, while higher shelves provide a spot to store things out of reach while allowing them to contribute to the fun style of the room.
Boys' Bedroom With Mural and Custom Homework Nooks
In its original state, the inset areas around the dormers were a waste of space. To give these areas a true purpose, they were transformed into two separate homework nooks complete with custom floating desks. To create the custom desks, first 2X4 lumber and paint-grade plywood were both cut to size, mitered, attached with a nail gun, then sanded and painted.
Kid art all over the walls, a loft and a slide (yes!) fill this playroom with whimsical energy. The loft also maximizes use of the space as beneath it, there's enough room for a play kitchen and storage.
Get a handle on playroom clutter. This kids' playroom features a bookcase with large shelf units. Stock the shelves with convenient storage containers, and you will have plenty of storage space for games and toys.
Neutral Playroom with Plenty of Organization and Storage Space
In the playroom, a wall full of cabinets keeps the space organized, while the chalkboard wall gives the kids an element of customizability in their room. The table and chairs gives the children a place to work, and the rug adds a softness to the clean design. Finally, large French doors allow in plenty of natural light.
Bright, textured chairs and a mural make a hangout space the energetic spot it deserves to be for kids and teens. The modern lounge chairs and sofa table have softened and curved edges. The spiraling hoops on the chandelier are eye-catching and fit with the circular elements in the mural and seating. The room by Jo Rabaut Designs, Southface and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta was in a Southeastern Designer Showhouse.
Kids' Contemporary Playroom with Custom Wall Mural
This whimsical playroom inspires creativity, learning, and playtime fun with a colorful wall mural, multiple work areas for drawing and crafting, a slide, and hanging chair. Creative storage makes organization and access to toys easy for both parent and kid.
In the playroom, bright colors make the space come to life. A large, customizable sofa gives parents a place to watch their little ones create, while three small tables and a stuffed animal, all three with bold primary colors, give the kids a place to play.
