The laundry room at the 2011 HGTV Dream Home accommodates twin washers and dryers, plenty of cabinet storage and counter space to pretreat and fold laundry. Extra-large capacity washing machines and dryers feature quiet operation and sophisticated controls.
Yellow and White Contemporary Mudroom With Baskets
A place for everything and everything in its place: This contemporary mudroom carries out that motto in colorful style. White baskets easily organize smaller items while sunshine yellow paint brightens up the interior of the shelf's lower compartments.
Filtered through a thin gold curtain, this dining area is able to receive some natural light from the large living room windows. The screen divides the rooms without sacrificing the open floor plan. A dark dining table with an interesting glass top filled with rocks sits beneath a rectangular candle chandelier. The table, a stone bench seat and ornate wood dining chairs provide contrast to the light yellow wall and create an intimate dining area.
Contemporary Study Features Criss-Cross Bookshelves
Spazio Rosso, Inc. choose a dijon paint color for the walls and yellow raffia wallpaper for the ceiling in this contemporary study. The built-in shelves were redesigned in a diagonal pattern to create a unique geometry, which the area rug and drapery fabric were chosen to enhance. The desk is composed of two layers of glass, the top being black, underneath being white.
As seen on DIY Network's original series "Rev Run's Renovation," this bedroom is decked out in earth tones thanks to rich gold paint colors and two-toned carpet. Tufting softens the look of a contemporary leather bed, while large artwork adds drama to the wall.
Bright, Kid-Friendly Living Room Perfect for Every Age
A play area on one half of this family room is perfect for keeping children entertained while adults can relax in the other half. A navy couch and brown leather chair contrast against the light yellow and white walls. A built-in fireplace with gray tile surrounds adds a great masculine detail to the design. Throw pillows, a blanket and fun wall art keep the space colorful.
Kitchen and Dining Area With Stone Tile Backsplash
In a kitchen with an open layout, it can be challenging to link the workspace to adjacent living areas. Here, designer Robin Baron used an extra-tall stone-tile backsplash to help connect the kitchen and casual dining area and create an intriguing mix of patterns. "Great design is all about the balancing of layers,” she says. “This mixed stone patterned backsplash combined with the bold tapestry on the banquette create an interesting and inviting space for the family."
Black and Yellow Contemporary Kitchen and Dining Room
One of the goals in this kitchen makeover was increased storage. Designers achieved that by extending a row of cabinets into the dining area. The long island and cheery yellow barstools act as visual separation between the kitchen and living room.
This contemporary kitchen keeps it simple and beautiful by pairing rift oak cabinets with stainless steel appliances. The deep brown chairs offer a nice contrast and the lemon center piece gives the room a subtle pop of color.
Contemporary Bedroom With Bright Yellow Accent Wall
An accent wall covered in sunshine yellow gives this room the perfect amount of color. Modern floating nightstands add storage without compromising floor space, and a quatrefoil rug gives the space the contemporary touch that feels stylish and inviting.
