Creating sleek, functional kitchen was the goal of this design, so it was given a black and white color palette. To improve the space's functionality, the walls at either end of the kitchen add extra cabinets. A kitchen island adds counter space, while two sinks provide additional prep space.
The designer of this modern home's interior incorporated the owners' extensive art collection and created installations throughout the space. Here, a cheeky 'Eat Me' sign floats above the kitchen's peek-through window.
The custom rough-edge bar top is made from longitudinal slices of raw pecan hand cut at a wood specialty shop in Valley Mills, Texas. The same wood was used to create the open shelving and work desk in the new home office.
The homeowners wanted a texture-rich space with a simple feel, so designers set out to achieve that goal by using cabinets that were a mix of wood and back painted glass. Black granite was added to the countertops, backsplash and range hood. This creates a sleek, streamlined design for the heart of this sophisticated home.
A black and white kitchen opens to contemporary sitting and breakfast areas that incorporate colorful accents and varying textures. White waterfall marble counters cover the island’s black cabinetry, as glass pendants hang above. In the sitting area, velvet chairs in a deep cobalt color, accented by pillows with bold geometric prints, sit in front of a trio of large windows. A smooth lucite coffee table is topped with shaggy, sheep’s wool, and is anchored by a neutral rug. Mirrored panels in the nook reflect the room’s natural light, and the white table and mid-century dining chairs add subtle modern touches to the classic space.
This project is all about classic elements with pops of surprises. Black and white is set as the foundational pallet, with bold color and pieces accenting the space, leaving your senses feeling excited and happy.
"People are having 'stainless steel fatigue' so we are paneling all of the appliances so they disappear and make the space look larger," says Christopher Grubb. Grubb predicts more wood tones and less gray and white for cabinetry over the next year.
A black countertop, hood and double oven stand out in this radiant white traditional kitchen. Tons of cabinet space provides ample storage, and a subway tile backsplash that reaches the ceiling is a stylish addition that is easy to clean.
The basement kitchenette uses a black-and-white color palette combined with stainless steel to create a chic, contemporary design. A trio of pendant lights hangs above a sleek bar-height table and black barstools, while a stainless steel backsplash provides a chic setting for the sink and cabinet area.
Floating shelves open up the walls and provide a striking view of the glass-tiled backsplash. Sleek black cabinets are paired with soft gray countertops and stainless steel appliances in this family-friendly kitchen.
