This city home originally had failing retaining walls and an unwelcoming entryway. After a front yard makeover, large, decorative boulders, new stairs and sun-loving plants now guide visitors to the front door.
In one of their more ambitious exterior makeovers, Fixer Upper's Chip and Joanna Gaines re-pitched the roof line of this home and dramatically enhanced the entry with a porch bump-out that features post-and-beam construction. The exterior is further dressed up with fresh green paint, contrasting black shutters and new stairs and railing.
This two-story loft in Boston's South End features new walnut stair treads that lead up to the master suite. A folding door with frosted privacy glass opens the bedroom to the foyer, while a desk attached to a black metal railing creates a functional work area with a fantastic view of the play space below.
As seen on HGTV's Love It or List It, the Jowett family's basement gets a huge redesign. The use of white pickets in the staircase echoes the open feeling; contrasted by black chalk paint, adding a dynamic architectural detail to the room. Black chalk paint is repeated on the doors of the utility closet giving the kids loads of room for creativity.
As seen on HGTV's Love It or List It, the Jowett family's under utilized basement is transformed into a bright, open concept family room perfect for relaxing, with a separate play area, plenty of storage, pot lights, modern color scheme and Berber carpet.
For accommodating kids and guests, Fixer Upper's Chip and Joanna Gaines devised a new bunk room with four queen-sized bunk beds. The bunk beds feature gray and white striped linens, stained shiplap paneling, iron railings and integrated stairs. The stairs are painted white with natural wood treads.
