As seen on HGTV’s Design on a Dime, this bedroom was given a masculine Moroccan style with plush throw pillows, warm gray walls and a bed upholstered in a rich, colorful print.
The designer’s penchant for global accoutrements continues in this room where a headboard wrapped in a handira (a Moroccan wedding blanket), brings moments of color, metallics, pattern and texture to the room in a single well-placed piece. The piece was found on a trip to Morocco that ended with Naomi being wrapped in the blanket at the end of a long evening. It now takes on a special significance as a decorative piece in her home.
The art of Morocco accents this gold and silver bathroom mirror made of reworked metal and which presents artwork within its interior. The faint outline of palm trees that appear on royal blue walls is a dramatic touch.
To create the blue and white kitchen the homeowners dreamed of, designer searched far and wide to find the perfect tiles for the backsplash. Finally, they settled on hand-painted tiles imported from Morocco. Then, they added brass fixtures to warm up the space.
Caitlin Dowe-Sandes covered this bathroom, from the floor to the window seat, in colorful Moroccan cement tiles from her own company. A simple vanity and Moroccan-inspired accessories allow the bathroom to make a dramatic statement without appearing over-the-top.
The exterior of this beautiful, home is complete with neutral, stucco walls and a terra cotta shingled roof. Landscape designers included a mix of palm trees and other exotic plants to complete the couple's desire for a Moroccan inspired home that reminds them of their travels in the region.
