As seen on HGTV's hit show, Fixer Upper, Chip and Joanna have turned this mundane master into a magnificent masterpiece. A new coat of paint provided the base color for an elegant, neutral color palette. Windows in the corner of the room let in plenty of natural light, making that corner of the space the perfect place for a reading nook. A faux mantel in the center of the room creates a focal point and adds a smidge of rustic charm to the space, tying this design into the rest of the home.
Fixer Upper hosts Chip and Joanna Gaines transformed a depressing room into a bright and festive nursery for the homeowners' baby on the way. The French doors were removed to create a solid wall for a crib or bed placed against. The old wall paneling was removed and replaced with light blue painted drywall with white trim. Soft carpeting will be perfect for a child's room and metal crates hang on the wall and serve as storage for stuffed animals. A crystal chandelier was removed from the original dining room and installed here in the nursery.
Embrace shiplap, the wide wooden boards that have historically been used to construct barns and older homes and a design favorite of HGTV’s “Fixer Upper” stars Chip and Joanna Gaines. Allison Worley, senior designer at Atlanta's Haven Design Works, installed shiplap in her bathroom and painted it in Sherwin-Williams Agreeable Gray. Shiplap can be done as an accent wall or installed along the entire room. Haven Design Works owner Donna Mathis adds that putting shiplap or tile just behind a vanity mirror can change the whole look of a bathroom.
As seen on HGTV's Fixer Upper, the craft room was an oasis for mom and her children, so Joanna designed a space that would reflect that passion for creativity. Built-in cabinets provide plenty of storage so that organization is never an issue, while open shelving provides a place to show off colorful objects. The rustic desktop and metallic message board gives the space a splash of personality and ties the design in to the rest of the home, while the children have their own table, just the right size for them, to create their own art while their mom creates hers.
White floor tile, white shiplap and white shower subway tile create a bright foundation for this country bathroom. A deep navy hue tops the wall for a bold accent color. A ruffled white shower curtain gives a feminine feel to the design. Stacked floating shelves hold the finishing touches for functional and appealing decor.
A Western Stoneware crock, distressed metal mounted hooks, and framed plants decorate this country breakfast nook. White shiplap walls and storage bench seating create the calm and bright framework of the design. A tasseled throw pillow add cushion and a touch of color to the space.
A decorative woven basket for pillows is a nice, textured detail to add personality and functionality to a space. Hardwood flooring extends out from the blue area rug below the basket. A thick knitted blanket and matching pillow are accented by a colorful floral pillow.
A patterned blue area rug and matching royal blue bed linens add an accent color to the calm, country design of this bedroom. A thin metal frame supports the wood drawer of the nightstand topped with a textured table lamp and dainty tulip display.
