This backyard has plenty of room to lounge: A hammock strung between trees contains pillows to provide added comfort, while a suspended daybed beckons in the background, as seen on The Outdoor Room With Jamie Durie on HGTV.
Daybeds with curtains are great for extra seating as well as slumber parties. We’ve totally encased the beds in curtains,” says HGTV Smart Home 2015 designer Linda Woodrum. “They become private little rooms, but you could also lie there and watch TV. This is like the slumber party mecca or super bowl party room.”
The book-lined library is centered on a Nettie Darr table, one of Barry Dixon's first designs for Mike Reid Weeks and inspired by his grandmother's parlor table. Tall lucite floor lamps provide light at either end of the oak daybed.
This room features floor-to-ceiling pink patterns and a bed full of accent pillows. Patterned wallpaper, curtains and bedding create an adorable blend of pinks that complement one another. A neutral area rug and soft lamp lighting make this a warm and inviting space for girls of all ages.
Add a daybed. Encourage lazy afternoon naps by replacing your usual pair of armchairs or sofa with a daybed. Topped with a few unique pillows, it can just as easily serve as a seat for two or lounging spot for one. White curtains and creamy white area rug create a relaxing backdrop in this living room.
White makes every room look bigger – especially this lofted attic space with a soaring ceiling – because it allows light to reflect. A wooden daybed nestles up to a row of windows, and the coastal color palette and woven carpeting keep the look feeling fresh and effortless.
The high back and side of this daybed make a cozy retreat for its young occupant as well as offering up ample space to display a bold print. The mix of patterns—stripes, florals—and shades keeps the bedroom's pink palette feeling fresh, not overwhelming.
