Just off the master bedroom, the master bathroom completes this home's en suite. Custom bleached oak cabinetry complements the wood barn doors in the master bedroom and throughout the house, while durable, white, quartz countertops keep the space nice and neutral.
To maintain the neutral color palette throughout the home, designers added bleached white oak display shelves and white matte cabinets to the sitting area. Across from this vignette, a laundry room is concealed in a hidden corner of this space, making the most of the home's square footage
A custom bed frame made of bleached oak, designed by Terri Robison, is the centerpiece in this bedroom. Adorned with bedding from Restoration Hardware, this dreamy bed fulfills the client's wish to "wake up in a cloud."
Moroccan poufs give this bedroom's sitting nook international flair. The vintage Irish wingback chair is covered in Donghia fabric, while Pottery Barn drapes add another layer of texture to the space. A custom bleached-oak console and large painting add a dramatic feel to the nook.
This media room does triple duty: first as a media room, with plenty of shelving to store DVDs, books and CDs; second, as an office, and third as a guest bedroom. A stylish and practical Murphy bed folds down over the couch to give this minimalist apartment extra functionality without sacrificing style.
Designers maximized the stylishness of this space by using green technology and the home's infrastructure to conceal some of the home's less attractive features. To bring the fireplace into the space, designers used an eco-smart, ethanol fireplace that requires no venting or special accommodations, giving the home the warmth and elegance of a fireplace without needing to vent it to the outside. Then, HVAC ducts were hidden behind the faux chimney and plasma TV.
The media room in this space does triple duty as a media room, an office and a guest bedroom. In this corner of the space, a stylish, modern desk is neatly situated to provide the homeowners the perfect place to work. Open shelving runs the perimeter of the room, making books and necessities easily accessible while working, while a large window wall allows in plenty of natural light and gives the homeowners beautiful views of the Boston Commons below.
To create a mudroom, designers moved the back entrance of the home to create a place for storage. Each cubby was custom build to make the most of the previously useless space that had once contained plumbing and utilities for this and other units.
To achieve an open floor plan in this pie-shaped condominium, designers removed walls to give a clear line of sight to the public spaces in the home, creating a spacious and open downtown entertaining space. To maintain the stylish, modern design, HVAC vents were concealed in the columns in the space, keeping the home functional and sophisticated.
The soaking tub in this master en suite can either be concealed or left open. When left open, the Boston Commons can be seen from below; however, the barn door can also provide privacy, shielding the space from the rest of the master suite.
The elegance of this modern kitchen is highlighted by the sculptural range hood, marble backsplash and waterfall countertops. These elegant features help to accentuate the beautiful views of the Boston cityscape that spreads out beneath the condo.
Just off the living room a library beckons. With cozy furniture and plenty of natural light, this space is perfect for enjoying a book. With new, modern barn doors, the library space can be closed off to create a private reading nook or they can be left open to incorporate the library into the entertaining space.
Homeowners wanted an open concept floor plan throughout their home, but they also wanted privacy for the bathroom, so designers developed a solution-a barn door. The modern barn door blends perfectly with the design of the bedroom, while concealing an open soaking tub. This solution allowed the floor plan to remain open, while designating distinct spaces for the bedroom and bathroom.
Next to the state-of-the-art induction stove, a modern prep sink makes washing vegetables and boiling water a snap. The countertops were chosen to be quartz, a durable, yet beautiful material, which highlights the solid, slipmatched marble backsplash that runs from countertop to ceiling behind the stove.
This dreamy master suite has the feeling of a treehouse with windows on three sides looking out into leafy green. The star of the space is the handmade canopy bed with a bleached Western maple headboard and footboard and a white oak frame.
