This cute owl mobile hangs above the large window to give it a nice little pop of color, as well as tie it into the room's design. The owls were hand stitched and tacked behind the trim so that they could be suspended in the air, adding a pinch of whimsy to this sweet space.
To create this nursery, designers first painted the walls a pewter gray color; then, they added birch tree and owl decals to make the space fun and decorative. Once the walls were painted, designers brought in an IKEA dresser and added hand-crafted owl drawer pulls to tie the dresser in to the design of the space. They also added a multicolor rug, a white crib and a modern rocking chair to complete the space.
Simple, neutral-colored elements, like the patterned rug and clean-lined wood bookcase, will be easy to work with as this nursery's resident gets older. Paint color: Sherwin Williams Aloof Gray; Oeuf crib; Anthropologie curtains; Birch Lane bookcase; Rugs Direct rug.
Usually, nurseries are only used for sleeping and storage, but designers wanted to add seating so that parents, grandparents and friends have plenty of space to watch the baby sleep and play. On one wall, a soft, velour beckons guests to take a load off, while in another corner, a comfortable sitting area provides the perfect place for soothing a baby back to sleep after a late night wake-up.
The hallway that enters this nursery is not exempt from the elegant design. A flat light fixture is used in this space to minimize the effect of the low ceiling and allow for plenty of room to open the closet doors. A hop scotch rug leading from the heart of the nursery to the door adds a fun little touch to this space.
This sweet little girl's nursery will also be used as a guest room when the family has guests stay the night, so designers added a plush, teal velour sofa that anchors the long wall of the nursery and doubles as a sofa bed when the need arises. To add symmetry to the space, bookcases on either side of the sofa add toy storage, and sconces add light to the space, while not posing a tip-over threat to the little one.
